Waiting in Class

One of my comments from the teacher about my latest portrait assignment was, "damn fine!". I'm happy with that. 

Day 85 of 365 Feet Project

Tuesday March 17

Late by a few hours. That's what my whole week has been like. I can move my neck a little bit. Today was St. Patrick's Day and I had the boys dressed in green but other than that we didn't do much. 

Two weeks ago I made cookies for a sculpture assignment. The word I created was Pompous. 

I've been wanting to make sugar cookies for over a week, lots and lots of cookies so they last a few days. But I haven't been able to find the time and my neck was too sore. 

I have a presentation later today at a high school on human rights. How to be the change in your community. So once that's done and I create a magazine for my final. I'll reward myself with homemade treats.

Typography Assignment Two

Whenever I begin working on a piece of art I feel the urge to clean. So I end up dividing my time between painting, gluing, creating a mess and dusting. I can’t decide if this is an avoidance tactic or part of my creative process.

Beginnings Are Always Messy

Mini update. Taken in the morning after working all night on my first typography assignment. I'm kinda happy with how it turned out but would have experimented a little longer if I had more time. 

I made it a self-portrait as well. 

My presentation didn't go so well, I was one of the first people and no one had any comments or questions. I think that's how this class is going to go like many other studio classes I take. No one really has anything to say about my work so I never have a real dialogue. 

Maybe I'm just too weird. I did everything by hand not in Photoshop or Illustrator. 

Here is the final piece. The table, scotch tape and glue are part of the picture. So it's a photograph of a collage on top of a photograph.

Back To School

I began a typography class today. It's been a really long time since I took a studio course. I'm nervous about getting the work done around looking after the babies.

I think I've allowed myself to get really lazy about my art.

This is going to be good for me or everything will fall apart. Either way it should be interesting.
