Last June I helped put up an art show for the Ukrainian Labor Temple at the Legislature. I was tired and pregnant so I sat on the floor. I took my shoes off because they kept slipping but got in trouble with the guard. So I sat down in the middle of the hallway.
Tonight I can't sleep and I remembered I've been horribly neglectful of my blogs and my feet project. I've been taking pictures but not posting.
I decided not to beat myself up but to just continue until I reach my number.

Mother's Day Feet
My feet with my grandma on Mother's Day. My first Mother's Day with the twins. I got to sleep in really late and woke up to cards and flowers. I had planned to make a small banner with my babies that day but I didn't get the time. It's still on my to do list.
Formatting isn't working so well on my blog today. I've been fighting with my computer so this post is going to turn out the it wants to and not the way I want it to. Brat.
My sister made this fantastic desert, strawberry shortcake in mason jars. My throat hurt so much that day and this was so lovely to eat, I had two.

Climbing The Walls
Oberon and I with my dreamcatcher prop from my film Dreamcatcher.
He had been really cranky so I took him into the bedroom to play one on one.
He has the cutest pink feet.

Wanted Good Woman
My recently taken feet photos feature the stroller and these sandals. I don't have any spring shoes at the moment I need to get new ones or fix my old ones . Also I adore my stroller.
| Little Decorated House |
I found this sign the other day. "Wanted Good Woman Must be able to cook, clean, sew, dig worms, clean fish. Must have a fishing boat! Please send picture of boat" My first thought was I was not the woman they were looking for. Worms and I like to avoid each other on the sidewalk. I like the shape of the little tree in the background, I'm going to go back and take a picture when it has leaves.
This house reminds me of a boat or a barge from the Sims 3. I think once they're done building one day it will just float down the river.
I have lots of silly thoughts.

Starting Again
I took the boys out for a quick walk before a big storm was suppose to hit Winnipeg.
The weather been too cold for walks. It's been disappointing not being able to get the boys out of the house everyday.
We stayed close to the apartment. The sky was a fantastic grey with dark clouds on the horizon.
Artis looks like an elf, he's smiling because I'm smiling at him. Oberon is holding on but when I checked him he was completely calm. I think he likes to be dramatic.
On my walks I've been taking quick pictures with my phone of things I think are delightful. Small houses, trees and cracks in the sidewalk. I'd like to start sketching after our walks but I haven't found the time yet.

Little Feet At A Little House
Sometimes when I'm in Stow I like to visit Louisa May Alcott's Orchard House. I took the tour during Christmas and in the Summer. The tours were different enough that I found them both worthwhile. I loved the books when I was a teenager. Now as a working artist and filmmaker I'm more interested in the actual writer's life and her relationship with her family. They are fascinating to me. I plan to do lots more research into the Alcott family and of the influence they had on their community. It seems different family members inspired the framework for school, social work, and other artist's endeavors.

Not My Shoes
Yuri had a birthday. He has them every year. I get very excited, he's a year older then me. So, everything happens to him first. He's old. I'm not. It makes me happy.
We went to this fantastic restaurant at the Forks. The food was so pretty and delicious but the twins had already taken over my stomach. Not much room to stuff my face...brats.
For his birthday I wanted to be tall, at least over 5'1". Yuri is 6'4" so I always look like a hobbit next to him. I borrowed my little sister's shoes, but I had trouble walking. I wasn't use to being so far from the ground.
I realize now god blessed me with shortness.
I came across this heart while I stumbled around the footpath.

Sneakers Old And New
My favorite place to walk.
I'm pretty sure the construction workers thought we were odd for lying down on the sidewalk.

My Boots Are From The Kid's Section
I really can't wait for spring to come. It's been on my mind for days. Spring never seems to last long enough in Winnipeg.
One thing I can't wait to do with my boys is race boats. When it begins to rain you make a little paper boat and get dressed up in all your rain gear. Then you find a little hill where the water is flowing down the street and race with a little boat.
I would do this sometimes with my little sister Alexina when we were small.
I was living in Vancouver I did this a few times. I missed home also the weather and streets are perfect for little boat racing.

Dandelions And Other Things
One time when I was younger in the spring before the city sprayed for mosquitoes. My mother had us go outside to pick dandelions. A couple of bowls full. After she washed them all, she made dandelion salad and dandelion butter. I think she made more things but I don't remember. The food was pretty but I think the dandelions were a bit bitter.

I Want All The Cookies
I'm not good at cooking. I get bored and don't know enough to improvise. That's a problem because now I have twins that I'm going to have to feed.
For Christmas I was given a cookbook by my mom and I have been trying to make actual healthy meals. I own a lot of cookbooks so that wasn't really my problem.
What I do love is baking and making soups. With soups I feel all witchy when I'm cooking over a cauldron. With baking I get as many cookies as I want. Also, everything looks prettier when you bake.
Since I had the twins all I want are donuts. Donuts for every meal.

A Little Bit Of Cheating And No Sleep
I can’t sleep and I don’t really want to sleep. So, I’m not
having a bad night/early morning. The gallery across the street alarm went off
for a while but it didn't wake my twins. The babies have been lovely compared to
most nights. They took turns crying so it’s been manageable.
I've been thinking about this project, if I should take a new photo everyday or use ones from the last few years. I've taken a lot of photos of my feet, I think hundreds and I want to share them.
Below is a photo taken at a 24 hour Walmart, it was part of the very beginning of my self-portrait feet series in 2012.

Getting Ready to Play With Paint
Getting Ready For Comic Con
Last Friday I ran around getting everything ready and at the end of the night I still hadn't found a place to prepare my banner material. I dropped in at the Urban Shaman Art Gallery for First Fridays (the first Friday of every month when the art galleries stay open late). They let me use some of the gallery space to paint.
I still need to wash the floor.

Art Everyday Month November 1
November always seems like a month of preparation, putting
away pumpkins, costumes and consuming candy only to pull out Christmas decorations
and planning gifts. November is also the
month of Native American Heritage Month, National Homeless Youth Month,
National Novel Writing Month and Art Everyday Month. I haven’t actively
participated in any of the awareness events or challenges.
Because there is so much going on right now I thought it
would be a wonderful idea to try Art Everyday!

| My Favorite Doors |
I love finding places and things that could be in a science fiction or fantasy film. This is part of an underground walk way near my work. Located under the grain exchange building. One day when I'm walking down this hallway each door will open with an oompa loompa leaving for work, with a couple of smurfs mixed in the crowd.
